TMG Source Elements v5.x

The last update to version 5 was released on 25 Jul 2004, version 6 was released in Dec 2004, and version 7 was released in Dec 2007, the current version 7.04 was released on 13 Feb 2009.1

New Source Element Groups were introduced in version 6.

Updating to the current version is recommended.

TMG does not provide a report for custom source elements, you will find a list of the default Source Elements & Source Groups in the v5.x user's guide, Appendix B, pages 375 & 376 or in Getting The Most Out Of The Master Genealogist GTMOOTMG Appendix E, pages 276 & 277. If you create custom source elements, over time you may have created several, and in developing a new source type discover you have already created the custom source element you need. I developed a Microsoft Word ® table to keep track of mine. The table prints landscape on two 8.5 X 11 sheets of paper, element groups are in a column down the left side of the page and across the page you will find the default source elements in cells highlighted in yellow. You will also see many blank cells highlighted in turquoise, these blank cells are available for you to enter or write your custom source elements. You may print the table and write in the blank cells, or edit the document and type your custom source elements in the blank cells.

For those still using Version 5 please select a file to download below.

TMG Research Task Table

If you want to see what TMG stores in the Research Task Table (project_name_L.dbf) you can open or download this file. I don't know what you might use this for, it was generated in response to a discussion about sending research tasks to EXCEL on TMG-L in July 2005.

While I used Access and an ODBC link to the _L table, you can use the Export Wizard to generate Excel spread sheet files of all the TMG database tables. Export data to Microsoft Excel worksheet (*.xls). The Research Task Table will be found in the filename_l.xls file, where filename is the name you specify in step two. Results will vary depending on the focus of the export you choose in step three.

This Power Point Show runs in a window that can be resized, use the page down key to advance through the show, or the page up key to step back.

If you don't have PowerPoint installed on your computer download the PowerPoint Viewer 2007 from Microsoft.
